Newtown City Hockey Club, the premier hockey club in Geelong, is excited to promote their Saturday Social Hockey programme. This programme offers a fantastic opportunity for hockey enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to come together and enjoy the game in a fun and inclusive environment.
Whether you're a seasoned pro, a former player looking to get back into the game, or a complete beginner eager to try your hand at hockey, Newtown City Hockey Club warmly welcomes you. The focus of the programme is on enjoyment and participation, rather than intense competition. It's the perfect chance for beginners to learn some new skills and for experienced players to showcase their talent.
After each game, players have the chance to relax and socialise with their fellow hockey enthusiasts. Nothing beats bonding over a delicious afternoon tea while exchanging friendly banter. The games are divided into two halves, each lasting 25 minutes. Of course, players are free to take breaks whenever they need to catch their breath or hydrate.
To ensure the best possible playing experience, the field size is adjusted based on the number of participants. This often results in a half field game, reducing physical wear and tear. The games take place at the beautiful King Lloyd Reserve on Windsor Rd, Newtown. You can rely on Saturday afternoons at 12.30 pm from April to the end of September to get your hockey fix.
Whether you choose to join the programme every week or drop in occasionally, the fees are reasonable and cover insurance and basic club membership. To fully enjoy the game, players are encouraged to wear comfortable attire suitable for running. Sturdy shoes with good grip are essential for quick movements on the field. Additionally, we highly recommend wearing shinguards and mouthguards for added safety. Don't worry if you don't have a hockey stick; we have plenty available for borrowing.
So why wait? Join Newtown City Hockey Club's Saturday Social Hockey programme and have a blast playing hockey. It's a fantastic opportunity to have fun, make new friends, and become part of our vibrant hockey community.
