Satori Shotokan Karate Club, located in Chesterfield, was established in 1975 and has been proudly affiliated with the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) since its inception. The club's dojo has been situated in Queens Park Sport Centre on Boythorpe Road since 1984.
The Chief Instructor of the club, Sensei Dudley Wheatcroft, began his karate journey in the 1960s, training in Wado-Ryu and then transitioning to Shotokan Karate under the guidance of esteemed instructors such as Sensei Danny Connor, Sensei John Lowcock, Sensei Phil Milner, and various senior KUGB Senseis. Dudley's dedication and passion for the martial art led him to attain the rank of 3rd Dan with the Japan Karate Association, before eventually joining the KUGB where he has been a longstanding member for over 50 years.
Satori Shotokan Karate Club believes in fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among its members and encourages individuals of all ages and skill levels to join. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, aged 12 or a senior citizen, you are warmly welcomed into the club's supportive and inclusive community.
The club offers training sessions twice a week at Queens Park Sports Centre. The club strongly encourages Dan grade members to acquire qualifications and certifications such as KUGB Instructor, DBS, First Aid, and Judge/Referee accreditation, according to their respective grades.
Satori Shotokan Karate Club takes pride in its team of three Senior KUGB Qualified Instructors who hold Enhanced DBS Accreditations and First Aid Certificates, ensuring that members are receiving quality guidance and instruction.
