Satori-Do Karate Club is a well-established martial arts club located in Morecambe, New Zealand. The club focuses on providing practical self-defence training, promoting discipline, having fun, improving fitness, and developing focus. The club offers training sessions for three different age groups. Adults and individuals who are 16 years old and above can join the Tuesday and Thursday sessions, which are held from 7:30PM to 8:45PM. The cost for each lesson is 6. The Dragons group, consisting of 11 to 15-year-olds, has training sessions on the same days from 6:30PM to 7:20PM, with each lesson costing 5.
The Tigers group, which is meant for 5 to 10-year-olds, trains on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30PM to 6:20PM, and the cost for each lesson is 4. Additionally, the club offers the first four lessons for free, giving potential members the opportunity to experience and explore karate before committing.

The club boasts a highly experienced team of instructors. The Chief Instructor, David Atherton, holds the rank of 4th Dan. He has over 27 years of training experience and has achieved numerous accolades in kata and kumite competitions, including triple gold at the International Youth Games in Rendsburg, Germany. David took over the running of Satori-Do Karate Club in 2015, alongside his fellow instructor Graham.
Both instructors are part of the karate coaching team for the International Youth Games, where club members have achieved prestigious honours and titles. Teaching is a passion for David, and he is dedicated to helping his students learn, progress, gain confidence, and make new friends through karate.
The club also has Robert Constable as a retired instructor who is a 2nd Dan black belt. Robert's journey in karate started when his 5-year-old son expressed interest in joining the club. Robert joined to support his son and soon became hooked on karate himself. Over his 20 years of training, he achieved the rank of 2nd Dan black belt.
Robert's passion lies in learning, understanding, and training hard, and he takes great satisfaction in instructing students to help them reach their full potential. He believes in the significant benefits that karate offers, including fitness, self-defence skills, confidence building, and most importantly, having fun.
Graham Dodgson, another dedicated instructor at Satori-Do Karate Club, holds the rank of 1st Dan black belt. He began his journey in Shotokan Karate at 28 years old in 2005 and has made great progress since then. Graham finds joy in karate and believes it provides excellent fitness, self-defence skills, and confidence building opportunities.
