Cleared of trees and stumps by horse and Blackburn steamroller. In May of 1914, golfing began on the new course. The property was expanded in 1920 to 150 acres with the acquisition of an additional 70 acres on the west side of Woodrowe Avenue. In 1925, an additional 18 holes were designed for the property by noted golf course architect Stanley Thompson, making it a full 27-hole course.
