Sarah's journey with Pilates began in 1990, when her osteopath recommended it as the only cure for her muscular back and neck problems. Initially unaware of what Pilates entailed, she delved into the practise, not without funny misunderstandings from her friends who thought she had taken up with pilots!
Pilates is known for its ability to help people with injuries or aches and pains. By improving posture, core stability, and selectively targeting muscles, Pilates strengthens the entire body, corrects posture, and tones the overall physique.
Before becoming a Pilates instructor, Sarah had a successful career in the music business. From managing artists, to session work as a singer, to running session nights and organising major events in the film industry, she garnered extensive experience. Inspired by her own back issues and personal Pilates practise, Sarah decided to expand her fitness knowledge by enrolling and training with the YMCA. Once she obtained expertise in Exercise to Music, Aqua Aerobics, Anatomy and Physiology, she felt ready to pursue Michael King's Pilates Matwork Training course.
Committed to her craft, Sarah continued her extensive Pilates training by attending courses with renowned instructors such as Lolitta San Miguel, Sarah Irwin, Rebecca Leone, Alan Herdman, and Kathy Corey. She also brought esteemed teachers like Rebecca Leone and Dr Bruce Crawford to London, hosting workshops and courses for both aspiring and experienced Pilates teachers.
With a constant desire to expand her understanding of Pilates, Sarah continues to train and attend various workshops and courses. She has explored diverse topics, including remediating injuries, working with osteoarthritis, and engaging in advanced apparatus training such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Spine Corrector, and Pilates Ball and Foam Roller. Additionally, she has delved into specialised areas like pregnancy Pilates.
Sarah's commitment to ongoing learning and collaboration with other master teachers makes her teaching style dynamic and inspiring. She strives to use her extensive experience to help others with their own personal back pain or physio referrals. Her passion for Pilates and dedication to her clients' well-being shine through in each session she conducts.
