Founded in 2005 by the esteemed Vidhushi Smt. Girija Govinda Bhat in Surathkal, Karnataka, Sangitharanga School of Dance & Music is a beacon of cultural education and artistic excellence. The vision was simple yet profound: to establish a platform (Ranga) that disseminates the enriching waves (Tharangas) of music (Sangitha). Over the years, the school has nurtured more than 200 students in Carnatic Classical Vocal Music, with many achieving distinction in exams conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Examination Board and earning accolades in various prestigious forums.
What's unique about Sangitharanga is its holistic approach to student development. This is achieved through collaborative efforts between teachers, students, and parents, fostering an environment where traditional Gurukul methods thrive. This bond between Guru and Shishya is the crux of the institute's success and sustained popularity in the community. Extending this legacy, Vidhushi Smt. Akshatha Nishanth expanded the school's reach by establishing a branch in Surat in early 2014. She introduced Bharatanatyam, further diversifying the institute’s offerings. In Surat, she has trained over 100 students in both Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Classical Vocal Music, quickly gaining local admiration for the versatility and quality of performance.
Recognizing the growing demand and the advancements in technology, Sangitharanga now offers online classes in both Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Classical Music, making high-quality cultural education accessible to students worldwide. The institute places a strong emphasis on stage performances as an integral part of the learning experience. Regular events such as Sambhrama, Sangeetha Archane, and Sangeetha Nrithya Seve are conducted, enriching the students' educational journey and enhancing their public performance skills.
