Sandringham Athletic Club, also known as Sandy Aths, offers a variety of membership options for individuals interested in athletic competitions. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just beginning your journey, Sandy Aths has something for everyone.
If you're unsure about the membership type that suits your needs, don't hesitate to reach out to their Welcoming Officer, Kathy Tanojevic. She'll be more than happy to address any questions or concerns you may have. To make things even more convenient, all memberships can be ordered through the Athletics Victoria Members Portal and must be paid as a single bundled payment. Alternatively, you can start with a membership and add competition packages later.
Membership fees vary depending on the category. For Athlete Open SAC, the fee is $325 (Athletics Victoria: $150, Sandy Aths Club: $175). Recreational Runner SAC is available for $100 (Athletics Victoria: $90, Sandy Aths Club: $10). Athlete Junior (ages 12-19) SAC is priced at $259 (Athletics Victoria: $120, Sandy Aths Club: $139). If you prefer an Alternative 1st Claim Athlete SAC, it's available for $140 (Athletics Victoria: $100, Sandy Aths Club: $40). Social members can join for just $40 (Free for Sandy Aths Club, Athletics Victoria: $40). And lastly, coaches or officials can enjoy a free membership as long as they are accredited.
As an athlete member, you'll have access to top-notch coaching at Sandringham, along with full access to the club facilities during training hours. This means you can make use of the track, equipment, and the on-site gym. Additionally, members gain exclusive access to an online resource section where you'll find valuable training information provided by coaches and sponsors.
Speaking of facilities, Sandringham Athletics boasts a fantastic track and a fully equipped gym. It's the perfect environment to elevate your athletic performance and reach new heights.
Sandy Aths also offers competition packages that cover entry fees for Cross-country (XCR) rounds and AV Shield League competitions (summer Track & Field). You have the option to purchase these packages individually for XCR or T&F, or go for the Max package which offers a discount if you plan on participating in both seasons.
If you're more of a casual runner, the Recreational Runner membership package is tailored just for you. By joining, you'll become part of a vibrant running group, receive knowledgeable coaching support, and have the opportunity to participate in exciting events such as park runs or the Melbourne running festival. This package includes track use, a Rec Run Team singlet, coaching programs, and in-track timing sensors. If you're interested in further enhancing your running skills, specialised rec running coaches are available for additional fees. Please note that this membership does not grant access to the gym or clubroom during athlete member training hours.
Sandringham Athletic Club is also proud to include the Sandringham Little Athletics Centre. This centre caters to children aged 5 to 15 of all abilities and focuses on teaching the fundamental skills of running, throwing, and jumping. The emphasis is on fostering a love for athletics while promoting fun, inclusion, good sportsmanship, and a healthy lifestyle. Competitions take place at the Sandringham Athletics Track on Saturday mornings from October to March, with some Friday night twilights as well. For those interested in coaching sessions, they are available on Wednesday nights from 4-6pm.
