Welcome to Sandwell Valley Sailing Club (SVSC), a friendly and exciting sailing club located at Swan Pool in the beautiful Sandwell Valley Country Park. Our club offers a regular sailing programme suitable for all ages and abilities. Whether you're interested in friendly club racing, training, or general sailing with safety boat support, we have something for everyone.
For those new to the sport of sailing, we encourage you to contact us for a taster session. This will allow you to experience your first sail with an experienced sailor or instructor. As a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognised Training Centre, we are equipped to offer a range of dinghy and powerboat courses and qualifications. Our qualified RYA Instructors provide tuition and guidance to help you develop your sailing skills.
At SVSC, we meet on Thursday afternoons (and evenings during the summer) as well as Saturday afternoons all year round, weather permitting. We are also open to sailing at other times if there is interest. If you're in the area, we invite you to drop by and explore our facilities. Our friendly staff members will be more than happy to show you around and discuss how we can help you get afloat.
Our club strives to create a learning environment that prepares sailors for their future endeavours. We incorporate RYA learning styles and provide hands-on experiences to enhance the learning process. Whether you're a first-time sailor or an experienced one looking to join a new club, SVSC is the perfect place for you.
Our mission is to provide an enjoyable sailing experience for the community in Sandwell and the surrounding areas. We believe that sailing should be accessible to everyone, which is why our membership costs are kept to a minimum. We offer various membership options, including adult, family, junior, student, and senior citizen memberships. Additionally, we provide boat storage options both inside our building and within our dinghy park.
If you have your own boat and wish to use it on the water at Swan Pool, you will need to obtain a Sandwell Council Water Licence. We can assist you with the payment process and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
At SVSC, we also offer boat hire services for those who do not own a boat. Our club boats are available for hire by our members, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the sport of sailing.
