Located in the heart of Southsea, at the Irish Club, Salsa Katanga has built a strong community of enthusiastic dancers who come together every week to learn and share their mutual passion for dance and Latin music. The classes are held on Wednesdays and are followed by social dancing, allowing students to practise their newly learned moves in a supportive and fun environment.
Katanga, one of the lead teachers at Salsa Katanga, has been dancing salsa for over 20 years. He was trained by renowned dancers such as Robert Charlamagne and Super Mario, and has performed and taught salsa all over the world. His expertise lies in teaching Crossbody Salsa, and his classes are known for their high energy and technical precision. Additionally, Katanga is also a talented DJ, and his music taste is unmatched in the South Coast Latin scene.
Iulia, the other lead teacher at Salsa Katanga, has a background in Ballroom and Latin competitive dancing. In 2018, she discovered salsa and instantly fell in love with the culture. She decided to add salsa to her repertoire and now performs and competes internationally as part of the Salsafieras team, trained by the highly regarded Sasha Philips.
