Salsa Cubana is an entertainment and dance school in London, specifically focused on offering Salsa classes. Located just a 2-minute walk from Oval Tube Station, they have a new home at Watusi Dance School, where they currently run two classes each week.
The first class, called “Salsa with AfroCuban Steps & La Rueda de Casino,” is held every Monday from 8pm to 9:30pm. Taught by the renowned Homero Gonzalez, this 90-minute class costs 10 and welcomes beginners. Homero was the first to introduce and teach La Rueda de Casino in the UK, contributing to the salsa craze that swept the nation.
The second class, “Ladies Style with Madeleine Duba,” takes place every Thursday from 7:30pm to 9pm. This 90-minute class is also priced at 10 and focuses on improving elegance in dancing. Participants will work on body movement, posture, balance, footwork, arm styling, and technique. Madeleine also teaches a variety of Cuban dance steps in this class.
In addition to these Salsa classes, Salsa Cubana also offers other dance courses and workshops, such as Zumba, Rumba Cubana, Reggaeton and Salsa Line Dance, Bachata, Men's Style, Cross Body, and Cuban Rhythms. Each class is taught by experienced dance instructors who have a fun and friendly approach to teaching.
Zumba, taught by Madeleine Duba, is an exhilarating, calorie-burning dance fitness-party that includes Latin-inspired rhythms like Salsa, Merengue, Reggeaton, Dembow, and Cumbia.
Rumba Cubana, taught by Homero Gonzalez, explores the traditional subgenres of rumba, including yamb, guaguanc, and columbia. Participants will learn the erotic movements, such as the vacunao, which involves a single thrust of the pelvis.
Reggaeton and Salsa Line Dance is a solo dance course that focuses on the unique dance style and music of Reggaeton. Participants can learn to dance it alone or with a partner, maintaining proximity to each other.
Bachata, taught by Miro Ghazarian, is a sensual partner dance from the Dominican Republic that has gained popularity worldwide. Miro is a certified teacher in Sensual Bachata style and welcomes beginners in his classes.
Men's Style, taught by Homero Gonzalez, is the ultimate workshop for men looking to improve their presence on the dance floor. Participants will learn different combinations of steps that involve the entire body.
Cross Body, taught by Sam 'Mr. Sleek,' focuses on light leading in salsa and incorporates fast shines, footwork, and partner work with a variety of moves and technique.
Finally, Cuban Rhythms, taught by Homero and Madeleine, provides an introduction to the world of Cuban dancing and the various passionate rhythms, such as cha cha cha, mambo, bolero, rumba, reggeton, pilon, and son.
