Salisbury Swimming Centre is a sports club located in Adelaide, South Australia. Nestled within the picturesque natural setting of Happy Homes Reserve, this facility offers a diverse range of aquatic, health, and leisure services to the community of Salisbury.
The club is currently closed for renovations and is set to reopen in 2024 as the exciting new Salisbury Aquatic Centre. This redevelopment project, co-funded by the Government of South Australia, aims to create a state-of-the-art facility that reflects the needs and desires of the local community.
Through a comprehensive community consultation process, the club gathered valuable feedback from residents. The community expressed a strong desire for a new aquatic centre that provides opportunities for fun, fitness, and education. As a result, the new facility will feature an indoor warm water pool, water slide, cafΓ©, picnic area, and water play. Additionally, there is a strong preference for an outdoor 50-metre pool, which will be included in the design.
The Salisbury Aquatic Centre will operate year-round and offer a variety of amenities. These include a new swimming centre building with modern infrastructure and amenities, an indoor multi-use lap/leisure pool, a speciality programme pool, a fitness gym, and a cafΓ©. Outside, there will be a new eight-lane 50m swimming pool, outdoor water slides, and water play areas. Landscaping improvements, an upgraded car park, and enhanced pedestrian links are also part of the redevelopment plan.
The demolition of the old aquatic infrastructure is currently underway, and the City of Salisbury is actively seeking a suitable construction partner for the project. Construction of the new aquatic centre is expected to take approximately 18 months.
Once completed, the Salisbury Aquatic Centre will provide a state-of-the-art facility for the community to enjoy swimming, fitness, and leisure activities all year round. The club is excited to offer these enhanced amenities and looks forward to welcoming members and visitors to the new facility in 2024.
