Salisbury Scorpions Swim Club is an amateur swim club located at the Salisbury State School pool in Salisbury, Australia. While the club is based at the Salisbury State School, it is open to everyone, regardless of whether their child attends the school. The club prides itself on being low-cost, striving to keep prices affordable for families in the community.
Salisbury Scorpions Swim Club offers a variety of swim programmes and services. They provide after-school Learn-to-Swim lessons for levels 1-3. Prior to being offered a place in the learn-to-swim lessons, new club members must undergo an assessment. Once swimmers have graduated from level 3, they can join the Skill Squad, which focuses on stroke correction and increasing endurance.
For those seeking competitive-level training, the club offers Squad training with a focus on fitness and endurance.
Club nights are held on Fridays during school terms 1 and 4. These nights are filled with friendly races in all strokes, with 25m and 50m races being timed. The club night usually begins with a free swim at 5:15pm and progresses into the races. It also includes all-age handicapped relays and has a canteen offering appetising barbeque and healthy treats.
The club night is free for families enrolled in lessons, skill squad, and squad. Families not enrolled in these programmes are required to pay a small one-off club fee per family per season.
In addition to club nights, Salisbury Scorpions Swim Club also competes in friendly meets with other swim clubs in the area. Club members are encouraged to participate in these meets, particularly those in the high school age group (13–17 years).
For those interested in the club's services, they can contact Salisbury Scorpions Swim Club through their website or by email. The club also offers holiday intensive lessons and periodic low-cost adult squad training, which can be found on their Facebook page.
Overall, Salisbury Scorpions Swim Club is a welcoming and inclusive swim club that provides affordable swim lessons, skill squad and squad training, and a fun and competitive club night for swimmers of all ages and skill levels in the Salisbury community.
