Saffron Walden Community FC is a football club located in Saffron Walden, New Zealand. The club is committed to providing quality football opportunities for boys, girls, and soccability players in Saffron Walden and the surrounding areas. It is an England Football Accredited club and is dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all players.
For boys, the club offers a Mini Soccer School for Reception and Year 1 lads, as well as league teams from U7s to U18s. These teams participate in various leagues such as the Cambs Mini Soccer League, Cambs Colts League, Royston Crow League, and Eastern Junior Alliance League (EJA).
Girls have the opportunity to join the WildCats programme, which is available for Reception and Year 1 and Year 2 girls. The club also supports league teams for girls aged U8 to U18 in the Cambs Women and Girls League.
In addition, Saffron Walden Community FC provides a Soccability programme for players with any disability or impairment, ensuring that there is a team for everyone.
The club was formed in 2023 through a merger of Saffron Walden Community Youth FC and Saffron Walden PSG Girls, and has since continued to grow. As a registered charity (number 801764), the club is run by dedicated volunteers and all subscriptions go towards providing quality football experiences for members and supporting the qualification of coaches.
The club values the importance of qualified coaches and assistant coaches. They provide funding for their attendance at FA training courses and take their qualifications and safeguarding checks seriously. With one of the highest number of qualified coaches at any youth football club in Essex, Saffron Walden Community FC has maintained its FA Charter Standard for the last 5 years and was awarded Essex FA Charter Standard Club of the year in 2018. The club prides itself on having at least one FA Level 1 qualified coach for all teams, with many teams having two or more.
They also have 18 Level 2 qualified coaches, with more coaches working towards higher qualifications.
Saffron Walden Community FC has formed partnerships with other clubs and organisations. Their senior club partner is Saffron Walden Town FC, the oldest club in Essex that is still in existence. They have also created a partnership with Cambridge United FC, a professional club in the local area. These partnerships aim to develop and nurture the talents of young players in order to provide opportunities for progression in the future.
