The Rye Junior Football Club, home of the Mighty Demons, is a proud and longstanding AFL football club located in Rye, Victoria. Established in 1973, the club has been providing boys and girls in the local community with the opportunity to participate in the sport of Australian Rules Football in a friendly and inclusive environment.
Starting with just one under 12s team, the Rye Junior Football Club has now expanded to include teams from Under 9s through to Under 17s, ensuring that players have the chance to develop their skills and make a smooth transition to senior football. The club prides itself on celebrating the commitment and passion shown by both players and parent volunteers, and aims to be both successful on and off the field.
The Rye Junior Football Club is affiliated with the Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League and strives to be recognised as a benchmark for junior football clubs in the league. The club places a strong emphasis on instilling values such as discipline, commitment, and teamwork in its players, while also promoting a family-friendly atmosphere and a zero-tolerance policy towards antisocial behaviour.
In addition to competitive football, the club also offers an Auskick programme for younger children who are interested in learning the fundamentals of the game. The programme focuses on skill development, fun, and fostering a love of the sport in a non-competitive environment.
The Rye Junior Football Club is supported by a dedicated committee made up of passionate volunteers who work tirelessly to improve the club experience for all. The committee is headed by President Scott Gathercole, Vice President Chris Jones, Secretary Selena Prescott, and Treasurer Rebecca Sholl.
