The Rye Yacht Club, a friendly and informal sailing club in Melbourne, is excited to promote their upcoming sailing event. Whether you are an experienced sailor or a beginner looking to dip your toes into the world of sailing, the club welcomes everyone with open arms. The sailing season at Rye Yacht Club runs from early October to mid to late April, and most of the club racing takes place on Sundays. However, if competitive racing isn't your thing, don't worry! The club also supports and encourages social sailing for those who prefer a more relaxed experience on the water.
If you're new to sailing and feeling a bit unsure, fret not! The Rye Yacht Club is known for its supportive and helpful club members who are always willing to lend a hand and offer advice. They understand that starting out can be intimidating, but they are there to guide you every step of the way. The club is also proud of its inclusive nature, embracing women's involvement in all aspects of sailing.
Even if you're not into sailing, there's still a place for you at the Rye Yacht Club. Non-sailing members can enjoy the fantastic club facilities located on the Rye foreshore. You can soak up the sun, relax, and take in the beautiful surroundings.
What sets the Rye Yacht Club apart is their esteemed Sailing School. Recognised as the 2023 Sailing School of the Year by Australian Sailing Victoria and the winner of the 2023 Instructor of the Year for Victoria and Australia, it's safe to say that you'll be in good hands! Bob Cooper, the instructor, has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Australian Sailing Instructor of the Year for his exceptional knowledge and teaching skills.
But sailing isn't the only activity offered at the Rye Yacht Club Sailing School. They also provide lessons for those interested in learning to Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) board. SUP is the world's fastest-growing water sport, and the lessons take place at the picturesque bay-side Rye Beach. If you're keen to try your hand at SUP, simply drop an email to info@ryeyachtclub.org.au to book a lesson.
Apart from the love for sailing and SUP, the Rye Yacht Club is also committed to protecting the marine environment and combating plastic pollution. They have initiated a donation program to support organisations working towards saving our oceans. Members can contribute to this important cause via the Club's Canteen, which is a fantastic way to make a difference while enjoying the sport you love.
For those who prefer to explore the world beneath the waves, the Rye Yacht Club offers snorkeling activities. They have 12 sets of snorkeling gear available, including masks, snorkels, and flippers. Expertise and guidance on snorkeling are provided by Karl and Mandy Robertson, who are always ready to assist club members. If you're interested in snorkeling, please get in touch with Peter Kinsman for more information.
Additionally, the Rye Yacht Club has partnered with Prospect Wines to bring a wine fundraiser for the club. Members can conveniently order and pay for their RYC wines online, and the wines will be delivered directly to their homes. It's a delightful way to support the club and enjoy a fine glass of wine while at it!
