Join Tamworth Sailing Club for an exciting sailing adventure with the RYA Level 1 & 2 Sailing Course happening this summer of 2024. The course kicks off on April 30th, 2024, running every Tuesday evening. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn the ropes or wanting to brush up on your sailing skills, this comprehensive package is perfect for you.
The Level 1 Start Sailing course is designed for newcomers, covering the basics of sailing in all directions and getting familiar with launching and recovering. By attending all four sessions, you'll earn your Level 1 certificate and gain the confidence to sail in light winds under supervision.
Once you've mastered the Level 1 course, you can advance to the Level 2 Basic Skills course starting on June 4th, 2024. This course is tailored for those who have completed Level 1 and dives deeper into rigging, advanced sailing techniques, capsize recovery, and safety protocols. By the end, you'll be ready to sail independently in favorable conditions.
As part of the package, participants will receive individual membership for the 2024/25 season at the club. For an extra £25, upgrade to family membership to include your spouse/partner for discounted rates on courses and events.
Mark your calendars for the Level 1 course on April 30th, May 7th, May 14th, and May 21st, with a student-to-instructor ratio of 2:1. The Level 2 course runs from June 4th to July 2nd, with a ratio of 4:1, starting at 6pm till around 10pm each session.
Don't forget to brush up on your theory work from the RYA Handbook at home to complement your practical training. Safety first - wear your buoyancy aids all the time, and inform instructors of any medical conditions or injuries for added precaution.
