Just a quick note from Claudia, the organiser at Rutland Youth Dance Academy (RYDA) in Oakham. Claudia wants to share a bit about what’s happening at RYDA.
RYDA is all about giving young dancers the chance to shine. Claudia and the team believe that performing in front of a crowd is a game-changer – it really boosts confidence for everyone involved. They focus on keeping things fun and energetic, with weekly classes leading up to some great performance opportunities.
Claudia set up RYDA to help young dancers find their feet and realise their potential. They’ve got loads of classes for all ages and skill levels. Whether it's funky moves for the little ones (ages 2-4), street dance for Year R, 1, and 2 students, or musical theatre for those aged 7 and up, there's something for everyone.
For the more advanced dancers, RYDA offers street dance for Year 11 and above, contemporary, and even adult street dance classes. Claudia knows how important it is for adults to keep dancing too, so there’s plenty on offer for them as well.
Classes run throughout the week at different spots around Oakham. You’ll find sessions at the Guide Hall on Grampian Way, Catmose College Dance Studio and Sports Hall, Uppingham Community College Fitness Suite, and the Rutland Active Hub in Ashwell. These places are kitted out to give dancers the best experience.
Inclusivity is a big deal for Claudia and RYDA. They run a Step 2 It dance class for young people aged 12 to 25 with special needs, offering a safe space where everyone can enjoy dancing and express themselves.
If you’re interested or have any questions, you can fill out the contact form on their website or drop them an email. Claudia and the team are all about creating a positive, nurturing space where dancers can flourish.
That’s all for now! Stay tuned for more updates from Claudia and the RYDA crew.
