Chris, your friendly organiser, would love to invite the entire sports community to discover the wonders of Mount Ruapehu with the Ruapehu Ski Club | Turoa Lodge in Ohakune.
At 1,800 metres up, the club offers pristine powder right at your feet, without the usual crowds. With five generations of family memories and friendships going strong, the club’s been exploring Mount Ruapehu since 1913.
They’ve got four lodges for you—two located on Whakapapa ski field. Picture this: waking up to freshly groomed trails, enjoying a hearty breakfast made by resident chefs, and skiing straight from your doorstep. After a full day of fun, you can head back for a warm lunch and dinner by a roaring fire.
For those who enjoy off-mountain adventures, the lodges at Whakapapa Village and Ohakune offer easy access to all sides of Mount Ruapehu. Apart from skiing, you can go hiking, mountain biking, and trout fishing. Chris and the full-time team are dedicated to making sure everyone has an unforgettable stay.
As the largest club on Mount Ruapehu, they’re proud of their friendly and welcoming atmosphere. With more bunks, buildings, squads, and activities, they reckon they’ve got more fun to offer than any other club. And with two true ski-in ski-out buildings right on Hut Flat, convenience is their middle name.
Joining the Ruapehu Ski Club isn’t just about finding a place to stay; it’s about belonging, getting stuck in, and forming lasting bonds. Members help out with daily duties like vacuuming, food prep, and cleaning, which keeps everything running smoothly and costs down.
Chris is all about providing chances to learn new skills and make lifelong mates. The ski and snowboard training squads cater to all ages and interests, creating a welcoming and inclusive community. Plus, they’ve got school holiday programmes that kids love, featuring training, races, games, and competitions.
Becoming a member of the Ruapehu Ski Club means becoming part of a cherished heritage. Celebrating 100 years in 2013, the club’s infrastructure and facilities are a result of the commitment of its members. Join in, discover Mount Ruapehu, and make your own family memories and lifelong friendships.
