Royston Heath Archery Club Outdoor Range, located in Royston, is a small and friendly club with approximately 40 members. The club consists of passionate amateur archers who are enthusiastic about archery and eager to introduce new people to the sport. Affiliated with Archery GB (formerly known as the Grand National Archery Society, GNAS, of Great Britain), the club follows their rules and regulations to ensure necessary insurance cover.
Royston Heath Archery Club primarily focuses on target archery and welcomes members who shoot a variety of bows, including recurve, longbow, barebow, and compound. By participating in regular rounds, members have the opportunity to gain and maintain their handicap as well as receive various awards. While some members choose to limit their shooting to the club rounds on the Heath, there are plenty of opportunities to take part in a wide range of competitions. The club often sends large groups to local competitions, and some members have even competed in national events and represented Hertfordshire county.
To support members in their progress, the club has four Archery GB qualified coaches, two Session Coach Candidates, and an experienced team of archers. Members who demonstrate a strong desire to improve and practise diligently can be connected with county squads and coaches.
For those looking to reintroduce themselves to archery, Royston Heath Archery Club offers refresher sessions that can quickly get individuals back up and shooting. To book a session, interested individuals can email contactus@roystonarchery. Org.
The club holds various upcoming events, such as indoor shoots and club target days. These events provide members with opportunities to practise and compete. The club's website includes a calendar featuring all these events for easy reference.
Royston Heath Archery Club shoots at two different venues throughout the year. The primary range is located at the Heath Therfield Heath, Baldock Road, Royston, SG8 5BJ. This range is designed according to the requirements of Archery GB and is set up with shooting lines, waiting lines, and marked distances for both metric and imperial measurements.
During the indoor season, from September to April, the club utilises the sports hall at Melbourn Village College located at The Moor, Melbourn, Royston, SG8 6EF. This facility allows the club to set up an 18-metre/20-yard range for shooting practise.
Royston Heath Archery Club outdoor range welcomes archery enthusiasts of all skill levels and aims to provide a supportive and enjoyable environment for everyone to pursue their love for the sport.
