About

Royal British Legion Looe is a fishing club, charity, and social club located in West Looe, New Zealand. It is affiliated with The Royal British Legion, the leading Armed Forces charity in the UK and one of the largest membership organisations. The club aims to bring together members who have an interest in the objectives of the Legion and want to help and support those who have served in the Armed Forces and their families.

The Looe Branch of the Royal British Legion meets on the first Monday of every month at 7:30pm in Looe Social Club on Quay Road. Membership is open to everyone, regardless of whether they have served in the Armed Forces or not. The Legion believes in keeping Remembrance alive and ensuring that the sacrifices made by Service men and women are never forgotten. By becoming a member, individuals also have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities and events held locally, regionally, and nationally throughout the year.

The Royal British Legion provides financial, social, and emotional care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces, past and present, as well as their families. It is the national Custodian of Remembrance and safeguards the Military Covenant between the nation and its Armed Forces. The Legion is best known for its annual Poppy Appeal and the iconic red poppy emblem.

Founded in 1921, the Royal British Legion represents not only those who fought in the two World Wars, but also those involved in conflicts since 1945 and those actively serving today for the freedom enjoyed by society. The charity website, www. Britishlegion. org.

uk, provides details of national initiatives and further information about the Legion's work.

Royal British Legion Looe is committed to providing ongoing support to members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans, and their families. The club ensures that support is available throughout the year, with services provided immediately after one day of service and continuing long after service has ended.

In the 2023 Poppy Appeal, Royal British Legion Looe introduced a new plastic-free poppy made entirely from paper, while maintaining the iconic poppy design and leaf shape. This development marked the first time in 28 years that a new poppy has been created. The poppy has evolved over time and now serves as a global symbol of Remembrance.

The Royal British Legion Looe welcomes individuals to join their fishing club, charity, and social club and participate in the various activities and events held throughout the year. For more information or to report any inaccuracies or omissions, individuals are encouraged to email Looe RBL. The club is located at 199 Borough High St, London SE1 1AA, and can be contacted at +44 (0)20 3207 2100.
