Round House is a renowned Tae kwon do school located in Stoke-on-Trent, dedicated to helping young people in disadvantaged communities realise their value and potential through the practise of Taekwondo and boxing. The school combines these martial arts with education and mentoring to provide a comprehensive support system for its members. At Round House, everybody matters.
Round House TKD is an official British Taekwondo Club, registered with the national governing body for Olympic-style Taekwondo. They have a team of British Taekwondo registered instructors, ranging from 1st Dan to 4th Dan. British Taekwondo oversees all aspects of the Martial Art of Taekwondo, including the selection of Great Britain's National Teams for international competitions such as the European and World Championships, as well as the Olympic Games.
Round House ABC is an award-winning Boxing Club that focuses on community outreach in areas prone to anti-social behaviour, gangs, and youth violence. The club works in partnership with Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (SASSOT), community organisations, schools, and colleges to deliver Satellite Boxing Clubs and enrichment activities. Round House is also working towards becoming an England Boxing affiliated club, in collaboration with England Boxing, the national governing body for Olympic-style boxing.
Round House has been recognised for its outstanding work in the community, receiving accolades such as the 2014 West Midlands Satellite Club of the Year, Sport England's National Satellite Club of the Year Silver Award in the same year, and the 2014 Community Sports Project of the Year.
Round House aims to prevent and tackle anti-social behaviour, gangs, and youth violence by providing a positive environment for young people to engage in Taekwondo and boxing. The school brings together diverse groups of young people, improving community cohesion, and promoting health and well-being. Round House operates from its hub at Dimensions Leisure Centre and also offers 10 Satellite Clubs in schools, colleges, and community venues across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
The Round House staff team leads by example, actively competing in Taekwondo and boxing competitions, inspiring young people to reach their potential. All instructors, coaches, and staff at Round House have completed safeguarding, child protection, and first aid training, and hold valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. The staff team also possesses Level 2 qualifications in Doorstep Sport Coaching, Level 2 Principles and Preparation for Coaching Sport, and Level 2 Award in Multi-Skill Development. Furthermore, the senior staff hold undergraduate degrees in Sports Development and Coaching, and Sport and Exercise Sciences.
Round House is committed to developing youth leadership and helping individuals realise their value and potential in disadvantaged communities. The school uses Taekwondo and boxing as engagement tools to work with hard-to-reach young people, providing them with employment support and raising their aspirations.
