About
Rosebery Tennis Club, established in 1920, is a historic tennis club located in Rosebery, Tasmania. The club originally played at multiple sites around town, but the Hey St. courts are the only surviving courts from that time. The courts, which were first established in the 1940s, were initially built from wooden boards.
However, in the 1950s, court 1 was replaced with a concrete aggregate surface, offering a more durable playing surface. Court 2, also made of concrete aggregate, was built in the 1960s, followed by court 3 in the 1970s, which is no longer maintained but still suitable for warm-ups.
Rosebery Tennis Club's courts are suitable for play in most weather conditions and can be illuminated for night play with coin-operated metres. Access to the courts, as well as the modest clubhouse and toilets, is restricted to members or by arrangement through the committee.
The club's location is at Hey Street in Rosebery, Tasmania, with directions easily accessible for visitors. The Rosebery Tennis Club has a rich history and provides players with an opportunity to engage in the beloved sport of tennis in a welcoming and friendly environment.
