RJC Dance Youth Provision, based at the Mandela Centre on Chapeltown Road in Leeds, is a highly regarded Contemporary Dance club that offers a range of exciting opportunities for young people aged 4–19 years. With a focus on equality and cultural diversity, RJC Dance engages young people from all backgrounds and provides them with new and life-changing experiences.
At RJC Dance, the emphasis is on unlocking the potential, creativity, and style of children and young people through the power of dance. By placing value on expression, RJC Dance helps participants develop the necessary skills to pursue other dance training if they choose to do so. In a safe and enjoyable learning environment, young people can thrive and discover their passion for dance.
One of the key elements of RJC Dance's program is Dance Pathways. This initiative supports over 200 young people who attend weekly dance sessions at the Mandela Centre in Leeds. Through Dance Pathways, participants have access to regular performance and personal development opportunities. Each individual develops a personal plan to set goals and track achievements. Regular class attendance, involvement in performances and residential opportunities are essential for their personal and professional growth. In fact, by being ambassadors for RJC Dance, our young people play a crucial role in our marketing strategy as they encourage others to join us through social networks, peer tutoring, and the RJC Dance Youth Committee.
