River City Cali Dance Studio

River City Cali Dance Studio is a popular dance club located in Brisbane, Queensland. Established in November 2015, it is dedicated to promoting the sport of callisthenics and assisting its growth in the region. The studio is led by Lorinda Webster-Brooking and Jessica Lee, who together have over 35 years of calisthenic participation and 19 years of coaching experience.

Callisthenics is a unique sport that combines elements of dance, gymnastics, ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, singing, and acting. It focuses on achieving both physical attributes, such as strength and coordination, as well as emotional and social development through friendship and teamwork. At River City Cali Dance Studio, students learn routines choreographed to music, which they perform at various competitions throughout the year.

The studio offers classes for children of different age groups and proficiency levels. The “Tinies” class is for children aged 3 to 7 years, while the “Sub-juniors” class is for those aged 8 to 10 years. The “Juniors” class is intended for students aged 11 to 13 years, while the “Seniors” class is open to those 18 years and older. Additionally, there are classes for “Intermediates” (14 to 17 years) and “Masters” (26 years and over).

Classes are held at various locations in Brisbane, including Belmont State School, St Thomas Catholic Primary School, and Gumdale State School.

The studio's vision is to compete at the highest levels across all age sections, while also promoting performance arts, team camaraderie, self-confidence, and self-esteem among its members. The dedicated coaching team works diligently to develop individual technique, skills, and performance quality to create creative and captivating routines for competitions and public viewing pleasure. They strive to create a fun and enjoyable experience for all members of the River City Cali Dance Family.

River City Cali Dance Studio is proud of its director and principal coach, Lorinda Webster-Brooking, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the studio. Lorinda began her callisthenics journey at the age of 7 and has competed in many winning club, state, and national teams. She has also excelled in Graceful and Solo competitions at the national level. In addition to callisthenics, Lorinda has extensive training in ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, hip hop, and gymnastics.

She has represented Australia in various international dance and sports competitions and has performed in prestigious venues such as Disney World in Florida.
