Richmond Hill Adult Pickup Basketball is a highly competitive basketball club located in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The club offers pickup games on Thursday nights for players aged 18 and older, with some exceptions. This is not a league, but rather a series of pickup games where players can showcase their skills and compete in a friendly and competitive environment.
The cost to join the club for a season is $120, which runs for 10 months from September to June. Alternatively, players can drop in for $10 per session. Each session is limited to 15 players per gym, ensuring that players only have to wait for one game max between runs. With two gyms available, the club can accommodate up to 30 players, guaranteeing a full 5 on 5 run at all times.
The second gym is usually used for shooting around or smaller games of 2s, 3s, or 4s.
The rules of the pickup games are simple, with games going up to 11 points, with 2 and 3 points counting. Offence or defence can call fouls, and teams are constantly changing depending on who shows up each week. Players are required to bring both a dark and white shirt or a double-sided jersey to ensure team organization.
Membership for the current season 2023/2024 is full for the 7 to 10 run sessions. However, players can fill out a form to get on the membership waiting list or for drop-in openings. Limited spots are available for the 10 run sessions at $60 before September 21, with the price increasing to $80 after that date.
