Richard's impressive playing career includes notable achievements such as being the British Youth Open Champion in 1984 and the Tillman Trophy Winner in 1987 after a thrilling playoff with Ernie Els. He also had the privilege of representing Wales internationally for several years and was a part of the Oklahoma State University Golf Team from 1984 to 1987.

Previously, Richard coached at World of Golf in New Malden before returning to Dukes Meadows in 2014.
