Massage and Pilates are the main services provided by Return to Movement in Basingstoke. The aim of this establishment is to help individuals return their bodies to their natural way of movement. Sports and Remedial Massage is offered to treat a variety of conditions, including lower back pain, shoulder pain, headaches, sciatica, and sporting injuries. It is also beneficial for those with sedentary desk-based roles or hands-on, labour-intensive roles.
The goal of this massage therapy is to enable individuals to return to their normal activities and move more comfortably.
Pilates is another key offering at Return to Movement. In today's sedentary lifestyle, our bodies can become stiff and achy, making it difficult to move smoothly. With Pilates, individuals can reconnect with their bodies and unlock their full potential. It is an effective method for rehabilitating injuries, creating stability, mobilising and strengthening the body.
In addition, Pilates helps tone the muscles for optimal condition.
The founder of Return to Movement, who is also the sports massage therapist and Pilates instructor, has a passion for movement and helping individuals get back on their feet. They initially developed an interest in movement while training for a First Degree Black Belt in Kickboxing. This inspired them to transition from an office-based career to becoming a BTEC Level 5 Clinical Sport and Remedial Massage Therapist. After qualifying from The London School of Sport Massage in 2015, they gained a deeper understanding of how the body moves and the compensations it makes when movement is compromised.
In 2016, the founder had the opportunity to work full-time as a soft tissue therapist for the First Team at Southampton Football Club, which provided invaluable exposure to elite sports and athletes. It was during this time that they were introduced to Pilates by Suzanne Scott, who used it for player rehabilitation and maintenance. This encounter sparked their interest in Pilates and motivated them to continue developing their knowledge and career in movement. They successfully qualified as a YMCA Level 3 Mat Pilates Instructor after a year of training and assessment at Pilates in Motion.
The founder's ultimate goal is to facilitate movement and improve the lives of individuals through massage and Pilates. They aim to offer hands-on solutions for rehabilitation, injury prevention, and functional movement. Their personal passion lies in strength and conditioning training, as evidenced by their own accomplishments, such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, completing the National Three Peak Challenge, participating in the London to Brighton bike ride, and competing in various running events.
