The Region of Waterloo Swim Club (ROW) is a swim club in Waterloo, dedicated to not only producing great swimmers but also great individuals. Founded in 1976, ROW's mission is to provide opportunities for each of its athletes to reach their maximum potential in the sport of competitive swimming. The club offers optimum instruction, training, and competition for swimmers of all levels, from novice to champion.
ROW aims to instill values such as commitment, dedication, and discipline in the pursuit of personal goals, while also promoting sportsmanship and team spirit among its members. The club provides a supportive environment for positive social interaction and emotional growth, fostering a sense of camaraderie and community among its swimmers.
Over the years, ROW swimmers have achieved great success, with many qualifying to compete at major international games such as the Olympics, World Championships, Pan American Games, and Commonwealth Games. ROW coaches have also been selected to accompany provincially and nationally funded teams to various competitions. ROW swimmers have won seven Olympic medals, showcasing the club's dedication to excellence in the sport.
Registration for the 2023-24 season is now open, and ROW Swim Academy offers programs for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. The club regularly participates in championship meets and competitions, with recent successes at events such as the Ontario Winter Festivals and Ontario Youth-Junior Championships. ROW swimmers have consistently achieved personal bests and demonstrated exceptional talent in the pool.
