Established in 1985, Reflex TKD Martial Arts specialises in the original military style of Taekwondo. However, the school also incorporates a wide variety of skills from other martial arts styles, ensuring students become well-rounded martial artists. While Taekwondo is renowned for its kicking techniques, the school places equal importance on developing punching abilities. As a result, boxing and kickboxing pad workouts and drills are incorporated into the classes.

Self-defence training is a fundamental aspect of the curriculum at Reflex TKD Martial Arts. Students learn a wide range of techniques, including escaping from grabs and holds, applying joint lock applications, and optional additional classes on throws and groundwork techniques. This comprehensive training empowers students with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves in real-life situations.

The school is led by Master George Cockburn, an 8th Dan Senior Instructor with over 35 years of teaching experience. Master Cockburn's passion for martial arts began at a young age when he was introduced to boxing and Judo. In 1975, he discovered Tae Kwon-Do, which became his main focus. He achieved his 1st Dan black belt in March 1979 under Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha, who brought Tae Kwon-Do to the UK in 1967.

Master Cockburn has continued to progress through the ranks, earning his 8th Dan in November 2018.

Instructor Joseph Cockburn, Master Cockburn's son, is also a valuable member of the teaching team. Joseph began his training at a young age and has achieved tremendous success in national and international competitions. With his extensive experience, he not only instructs students but also serves as a tournament referee.
