About
Red Tiger Karate, led by Jo Sysum Sensei, hosts its sessions in Darwen, Lancashire. Their Wednesday classes run from 18:00 to 19:00 at Derwent Hall, and Gary Pratley Sensei takes over on Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30. The club caters to all ages and abilities, from young beginners to seasoned black belts.
Specialising in Shotokan Karate, Red Tiger focuses on the fundamentals—striking, blocking, and kicking techniques. Students also master Shotokan Kata, intricate movement patterns, and engage in controlled Kumite once they've reached a proficient level.
At Red Tiger, the atmosphere is lively and engaging. Jo makes use of karate-based games and competitions to enhance the learning experience. The club pushes for positive impacts inside and outside the dojo, fostering long-lasting friendships and encouraging family training, teamwork, and shared values.
With more than 40 classes spread across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Cheshire, Red Tiger Karate offers a variety of training locations, from schools to community centres. Classes are available every night of the week and on weekends, providing flexible training options.
Red Tiger Karate isn’t just about learning martial arts. Training there improves fitness, flexibility, stamina, and mental co-ordination while reducing stress. For kids, it promotes discipline, concentration, and motivation.
Jo and the team also organise tournament participation and special seminars. Red Tiger's instructors are approachable and supportive, ready to help you achieve your specific goals—whether they be fitness, self-defence, or personal growth.
