Are an established and respected junior football club in the Stockport area. Reddish Villa JFC is committed to providing children with the opportunity to play and enjoy football, regardless of their financial background.
The club was formed in 1993 by Mike Bridge, along with Gillian Bridge, Mike Kilheeney, Tina Kilheeney, and Jim Fallon. They held a meeting at the Fir Tree pub on Reddish Lane to discuss the formation of a junior football team. The name Reddish Villa and the colours Maroon and Blue were chosen. From the very beginning, the club aimed to be a community-oriented club that encourages children to play and enjoy the sport.
Initially, the club started with just one team, which was entered into the Reddish & District League. However, it quickly became apparent that there was significant interest in joining the team. With the assistance of Malc Cameron, a second team was formed to accommodate all the boys who wanted to play. Additionally, Paddy Whelan offered his expertise as the club's youth development officer, helping to guide new players and teams.
Whelan continues to hold this position, having developed a reputation for nurturing outstanding players and teams.
Reddish Villa JFC is proud to be an affiliated FA Charter Standard Club. This certification means that the club adheres to all the rules and regulations regarding child welfare, volunteer checks, player insurance, and financial management. The club currently competes in the East Manchester League and North Bury Girls League, offering opportunities for boys and girls of all ages from Stockport and Manchester to join and play for Reddish Villa.
Over the years, Reddish Villa JFC has had the privilege of seeing some of its players scouted and offered opportunities with professional teams such as Manchester City, Manchester United, Burnley, Bury, Oldham, Stockport County, and others. This recognition speaks to the talent nurtured within the club.
The club also endeavours to create a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved by promoting kids football. They emphasise that it is essential to remember the volunteers who dedicate their time and effort, as well as the values of fair play and sportsmanship.
Overall, Reddish Villa JFC is dedicated to building a future on solid foundations. They continue to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for children to develop their football skills, have fun, and make lasting memories.
