Red Bamboo Martial Arts in Mississauga, located right across from Colossus and kitty corner to Great Canadian Pizza, offers Karate, Karate-do, and Kobudo classes. Dawn Porter and Ian McLeod run the show, welcoming students of all ages and skill levels.
At Red Bamboo, they’re big on continuous enrolment—just hop in whenever you're ready. The focus isn't just on physical prowess but also on mental health, self-defence, and life skills. Dawn and Ian know the difference between training for competition and training for real-life situations. For them, being a champion is all about staying humble in wins and fearless in losses. They aim to build real confidence and teach students how to handle conflict, making them both physically stronger and mentally tougher.
The name “Red Bamboo” represents power, strength, vibrancy, and flexibility, taking cues from the warrior’s code, Bushido. The school puts a modern spin on traditional Bud, pushing students to face challenges head-on and succeed in all walks of life.
