About
Reading Sailing Club, nestled in Sonning near Reading, is the ideal spot for dinghy sailing enthusiasts. Run by George, the club offers a comfortable and welcoming environment for both beginners and seasoned racers.
George ensures that the club is informal and friendly, making everyone feel at home. Members can enjoy racing, cruising, or just social events, with a dedicated clubhouse providing facilities like changing rooms, hot showers, and a galley.
Club racing is available throughout the year, and cruising is especially popular in spring and summer. For those looking for variety, the lake is also perfect for windsurfing and canoeing. If you're keen to learn, George arranges dinghy training courses every early summer which many members find invaluable.
For those who prefer a different style of sailing, there's an active model yachting section as well. The clubhouse also includes a cosy clubroom with cooking facilities and refreshments, ensuring members stay comfortable year-round – heated floors in the changing rooms are a bonus in winter!
Members have access to a convenient boat park and a lovely lawned area ideal for picnics. Guests are always welcome under George’s guidelines: up to 3 sailing guests per day, with a yearly limit of 3 visits per guest, and a £10/day fee for those sailing their own boat.
Remember, the sailing area extends from the clubhouse to the line of orange buoys and beyond the island, but be mindful not to cross the buoy line.
With top-notch facilities, varied activities, and a friendly community overseen by George, Reading Sailing Club offers a fantastic sailing experience for all.
