Reading Archers is a friendly and welcoming target archery club located in Reading, Berkshire. Established in 1949, the club has a long-standing tradition of promoting the sport of archery in the local community.
The club holds regular club nights at Crosfields School in Shinfield, as well as at Maiden Erlegh School during the winter months. These club nights provide an opportunity for members to practise their archery skills and participate in friendly competitions.
For those interested in getting started with archery, Reading Archers offers beginner courses each summer. These courses are designed for individuals who are new to the sport and provide instruction on the safe use of bows and shooting techniques. New members are welcome to join Reading Archers at any time of the year. In order to become a member, individuals must either complete a satisfactory beginner's course or demonstrate appropriate competence through an assessment with a senior club member.

Beginner's courses at Reading Archers can accommodate up to 24 people and are held over four consecutive weeks at Crosfields School. The courses run from 18:30 to approximately 20:30, rain or shine. Light refreshments are provided during a short rest period.
To participate in a beginner's course, individuals must be at least 14 years old. Parental or guardian presence is required at all times for participants aged 14 to 18. The cost for the course is 75. 00 per person and payment must be made in advance to secure a place.
The beginner's courses take place at Crosfields School, located on Shinfield Road in Reading. Free on-site parking is available, and there is a bus stop just outside the school for public transportation.
Participants are advised to bring a coat or waterproof jacket, as the courses take place outside regardless of the weather. A water bottle is also recommended, as well as sturdy closed-toe shoes. All necessary equipment, including bows, arrows, and arm guards, will be provided by the club.
Successful completion of the beginner's course and meeting the requirements set by the club are necessary to become a member of Reading Archers. The club welcomes individuals of all skill levels and encourages a sociable and supportive atmosphere for everyone to enjoy the sport of archery.
