About
Hey everyone! If you're looking to dive into martial arts, Rasharkin Karate Club is the place to be. They meet every Monday at 7:30 PM at the Rasharkin Community Centre in Ballymena, but be sure to get there by 7:25 PM to start on time. Juniors wrap up by 8:30 PM.
The sessions are run by Sensei Dan Redmond, a 7th Dan black belt, and Sean Wisener, a 2nd Dan black belt. These guys know their stuff and are great at helping you hone your skills. You'll focus a lot on Kumite (that's sparring) to practise what you’ve learnt.
The club recently got some new shin/instep guards, thanks to a grant from Sharkin Plan-It, making your training sessions even better.
For the latest updates, follow Rasharkin Karate Club on Facebook—handy for last-minute news or location changes.
Dan Redmond also heads the Chujo Karate Association, which is part of the British Combat Karate Association. They offer classes in Wado Ryu Karate, plus grappling and self-defence.
Newcomers can try their first lesson for free—no need for fancy gear, just a tracksuit or sports clothes. If you're keen, you can sort out a karate uniform (gi) with Sensei Dan Redmond.
For more info, check out the Chujo Karate Association’s website. They’ve got all the details you need including upcoming events and gradings.
Come along and see what it’s all about!
