Rana O’Brien wishes to extend a heartfelt note to the sports community, reflecting on the achievements and offerings of Rana's School of Ballet in Newtownabbey.
Rana O’Brien, the founder and guiding force behind Rana's School of Ballet, has utilised her professional experience as a ballerina with the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Company to shape the dance community in the Greater Belfast area for over 20 years. Rana's School of Ballet, established in Newtownabbey, welcomes students of all ages, starting from four years old to adults. Rana prioritises individual attention to nurture the full potential of each ballet dancer.
A hallmark of the school is its adherence to the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, allowing regular attendees who demonstrate progress to undertake RAD examinations and Class Awards, provided the age requirements for each level are met.
Rana O’Brien is not only a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance but also has an extensive background in dance performance and academia, holding an MA degree in Dance Studies from the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance. She ensures the school's training methods are up-to-date by attending RAD seminars and courses. Denise Rogan, another esteemed teacher at the school, brings her experience as a former student who achieved Advanced 1 with High Merit at the age of 19, and is also a qualified primary school teacher.
A key aspect of Rana's School of Ballet is the emphasis on performing opportunities for students. Staging performances is considered an essential part of a dancer's training, and the school frequently organises events to showcase student progress.
Classes are conveniently offered in multiple locations across Newtownabbey, including West Belfast, Belfast City Centre, and Carryduff. Specific addresses include 24 Alfred Street, Belfast BT2 8AH; St Teresa's Youth Centre, BT11 8BL; and locations in Carryduff, BT8 8EU, County Antrim.
Rana's School of Ballet has received positive feedback from both parents and former students. Praise has been given for Rana's tailored approach to student development, her commitment, and her organisational skills alongside Denise.
