Race Pace Coaching is a sports club located on the Sunshine Coast and was founded in 2012 by Peter McKenzie. Jacque McKenzie introduced the junior squad in 2014. The club caters to athletes of all age groups and abilities, from beginners to elites. Training sessions take place at various venues between Coolum and Noosa throughout the year, as indicated on the Training Calendar.
At Race Pace Coaching, the training programmes are individualised and flexible, taking into account each athlete's race calendar and personal goals. While there are group sessions available, the focus is on providing a fun and motivating training experience for each individual. The club offers a variety of coaching options to suit the needs of each athlete, including personalised programmes with coached sessions, personalised programmes only, coached sessions only, casual sessions, and one-on-one sessions.
Regular training events are held at Coolum year-round, allowing members to practise their skills and enjoy the sport at a minimal cost. These events feature varied formats that may not be offered in other races, providing new challenges and creating interest. Visitors are always welcome to attend these events.
In addition to triathlon training, Race Pace Coaching also caters to distance athletes through online programming services, catering to both Australian and international athletes. Athletes have the option to train in swimming, cycling, and running as individual disciplines. The training group also competes in single discipline events such as Park runs, local cycle and swim events, as well as all Schools events in triathlon, swimming, cross country, and track. The focus of training shifts according to the season and available events.
Race Pace Coaching is dedicated to supporting the development of young athletes and offers a scholarship programme to selected junior athletes, providing free coaching and some equipment. Financial assistance is provided to athletes who qualify for Australian teams and juniors who participate in National races. Currently, the training group has 8 athletes who are part of Queensland Junior Development squads, highlighting the focus on developing emerging talent.
The club not only focuses on traditional swim, bike, and run sessions but also provides body maintenance sessions involving yoga, mindfulness, stretching, and meditation. Additionally, mental skills are taught both in specific sessions and in the day-to-day functioning of the training squad. These services can also be accessed online.
Race Pace Coaching is supported by amazing local businesses, who sponsor the club and assist with training and events throughout the year. More information about these sponsors and the products and services they provide can be found on the Sponsor page.
