Queen Elizabeth II Park View Playing Fields, located on Park View Road in Lytham Saint Annes, offers a wide range of amenities and activities for all ages. The park is lovingly maintained by ParkView4U, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a fun and safe environment for the local community.
One of the highlights of the park is the Quirky Tea Room, a family-friendly establishment with a touch of quirkiness. Visitors can enjoy tasty breakfasts, themed afternoon tea, hot drinks, ice cream, milkshakes, and delicious cakes. For special occasions, private pods can be hired for celebratory events.
For those looking to relax and enjoy the outdoors, the park offers a sand and water area, which is themed on the local environment. It features seaside planting, seating areas, and equipment for exploration and play. Water wheels, hand pumps, channels, dams, and pulley systems are available for children to experiment with.
Sport enthusiasts will be pleased to find a skate park suitable for skateboarders, in-line skaters, and BMX riders of all ages. Safety is a priority, so visitors are reminded to bring their helmets. Additionally, there is a football pitch and a Multi-Use Game Arena (MUGA) funded by Lawrence House Trust. The MUGA is a popular attraction where children and teens can join in games and make new friends.
For those interested in gentle exercise, the park offers PlayFit equipment, which is designed around the traditional movements of Thai Chi. Visitors can perform low-impact exercises at their own pace.
Younger children are not forgotten, as there is a toddler park with age-appropriate equipment and a bespoke mud kitchen created by Acorn Woodcraft. The mud kitchen is an excellent resource for Forest School activities and encourages natural play in the woods.
Older children and teenagers can make use of the teen area, which provides a space for them to relax and socialise.
Adventure seekers can try out the BMX dirt track, perfect for both beginners and experienced riders. The track was funded by SITA and will soon be launching a new BMX club with X land Bikes.
The park also features a 60ft wide semicircle, stone and pebble amphitheatre, which is frequently used by various performers including theatre groups, musicians, schools, sports groups, opera singers, dancers, choirs, and dog shows. It can be rented out for events and performances.
ParkView4U also offers educational opportunities through Forest School and Beach School programmes. Forest School activities include shelter building, fire lighting, using tools, bushcraft, identification of flora and fauna, and natural art. These programmes can be booked in 6-week blocks either in the park's woodland or at your own site.
All donations received by ParkView4U go towards the upkeep of the park and future projects. It is through the support of the community that Queen Elizabeth II Park View Playing Fields continues to thrive and provide a hub of recreational and educational activities for everyone to enjoy.
