The Queen Charlotte Yacht Club in Picton is the heart of centreboard sailing in Marlborough, welcoming enthusiasts since 1936. The clubhouse, with its stunning views of Picton Harbour, offers a modern space for members to enjoy.
Helmed by a dedicated team, the club makes sailing an accessible and lifelong sport with affordable and enjoyable local sailing options. They support their sailors in competing at regional, national, and even global levels, hosting events like the 2024 Toyota Optimist Nationals and the Interislander Optimist Challenge.
For those new to sailing, the club runs School Holiday Learn to Sail courses during summer, led by Head Coach Kate Overend. Kids aged 8-15 can enjoy 12 hours of sailing instruction from a YNZ Qualified Yachting Instructor, using the club's Optimist dinghies.
