Qi Martial Fitness is Bayside's newest Karate dojo, offering karate classes for both kids and adults. Located just off Church Street in Brighton, this fully-equipped martial arts centre provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals of all skill levels to begin their martial arts journey.
The karate classes for kids cater to all skill levels, with beginners warmly welcomed. The classes are led by a fully-certified and experienced instructor, who holds both the Working with Children and National Police Certificates. Through this full-body movement style of Karate, children will learn self-discipline, confidence, and respect. They will have the opportunity to be graded for belts, allowing them to progress at their own pace.
The Little Dragons class is specifically designed for children aged 4–6 years old, and runs from Monday to Thursday from 4pm to 4:30pm. The Mascots class, for 7-9 year olds, takes place from Monday to Thursday from 4:30pm to 5pm. Juniors, aged 10–12 years old, have classes from Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 5:30pm, with an additional class from 5:30pm to 6pm. Warriors, aged 13–15 years old, can attend classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 6:45pm.
Karate for Kids provides numerous benefits for children, including self-discipline, self-confidence, and respect. As children advance through grading and earn new belts, they will learn the importance of self-discipline and how it can be applied not only to Karate but also to other physical sports, education, and challenges they may face. Additionally, the practise of Karate will help build self-confidence and respect, as children learn to respect their instructor and fellow students, while also mastering self-defence movements.
Qi Martial Fitness also offers adult karate classes, as well as other martial arts styles such as Seibukaikan Budo, Ringside Combat Gym, and Koryu. Streams like Seibukaikan Budo focus on traditional Japanese martial arts, including unarmed combat, sword techniques, and archery, taught by an internationally recognised Sensei. Ringside Combat Gym offers Filipino, Thai/Burmese Kick Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and Boxing classes, providing a realistic and practicable style. The Koryu stream requires an interview for entry and teaches exclusive Japanese styles, including Kyudo and Musashi Kenjutsu.
