Colin Smith, the dynamic organiser behind Pukekohe Metro Cricket Club (PMCC), invites cricket players to join one of New Zealand's most thriving cricket communities. Formed in 1987 from the merger of the Pukekohe Cricket Club and Metro Cricket Club, and recently enriched by the Pukekohe Indian Cricket Club, PMCC has become the largest club in the Counties Manukau Cricket Association.
Located at the Bledisloe Park Society building on John Street in Pukekohe, the club offers fantastic facilities with views of three cricket pitches—one grass, one artificial, and one combined. PMCC fields over twenty teams every weekend, catering to more than 200 members of diverse age groups and skill levels.
For the youngest enthusiasts, PMCC offers the Year 1-2 Future Caps programme from November to March. These sessions at Bledisloe Park focus on fun and basic cricket skills. New Year 1-2 members receive a club shirt and cap, and existing members continue with their kit. Flat shoes are a must for safety, and all equipment is provided, although personal bats are welcome.
PMCC also runs a girls' cricket programme on Wednesday evenings, sponsored by Navigator, to help girls make friends, develop new skills, and fall in love with cricket. Registration details are available online.
To stay updated, members and parents should follow the club's public Facebook page "@Pmcc1987" for notifications, including weather cancellations.
Colin Smith and PMCC are committed to fostering a supportive and lively environment for all cricket enthusiasts. Join them and be part of a passionate cricket community in Pukekohe.
