The Prince George Horse Society (PGHS) is a non-profit organization located in Prince George, British Columbia. Established in 1996, PGHS aims to promote the recreational, social, and educational benefits of equine disciplines, as well as provide accessibility to equine pursuits for the residents of Prince George and the surrounding area.
The PGHS operates out of the PG Agriplex, a public multidiscipline equestrian boarding and riding facility. The Agriplex boasts an indoor heated arena, outdoor competition arena, warm-up arena, 60 paddocks, 70 box stalls, and 58 hay stalls, with additional barns allowing for stabling of up to 120 horses for large shows. The public is invited to come and watch the horses being exercised daily or in competition, with a sign-in at the office required before visiting the paddocks.
The facility offers a variety of programs and disciplines, including jumping, dressage, reining, barrel racing, sorting, penning, roping, school horse riding, and therapeutic riding programs. The PG Agriplex is also home to the Top Dog Agility Trials in the winter. The facility hosts riders and horses of all ages and abilities throughout the day, and visitors are advised to ride at their own risk. Dogs are strictly prohibited in or around the paddocks, horse stalls, or inside the indoor arena building.
Riding instruction is available for all ages and disciplines at the Agriplex, with a team of experienced instructors including Donna Allen, Pernell Fleck, Stephanie Schacke, and Susie Ramsay. Member groups at the facility include the Agriplex Riders Club, Hunter Jumper, Exhibition Park Boarders, CADORA, Reining Horse Assoc. Rodeo Assoc. Therapeutic Riding Assoc.
, and the Pony Club. Additionally, user groups such as the British Columbia Interior Hunter Jumper Association, North Central British Columbia Canadian Dressage Owners & Riders Association, and Top Dog Agility, among others, utilize the facility for their events and activities.
