Helen, the organiser behind Powerplay, wants to share some exciting news. If you love football or netball and you're in Hereford, you're in for a treat! Powerplay has been running smashing 5-a-side football and 7-a-side netball leagues for over 15 years. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a newbie, there's a spot for you.
Here's how it works: Powerplay runs mini-seasons, each lasting around 8-13 weeks. Every team gets to play each opponent twice, with matches running for a fun-packed 40 minutes. Worried about fair play? Don’t be! Powerplay places teams in divisions based on skill and experience, so you'll always find your perfect match.
Helen’s team sorts out all the tricky bits. They provide referees, umpires, and all the gear – you just show up ready to play. Costs vary by venue, usually between £4-10 per player. And guess what? There are no pesky joining fees or deposits.
Netballers can look forward to 7-a-side matches with up to 10 players per team and unlimited rolling subs. Football fans, you’ve got options too – 5, 6, and 7-a-side leagues, with 5-a-side being a firm favourite. Six-a-side teams can have squads of up to 9 players, and subs are unlimited as well.
Seasons fly by in 1.5 to 3 months, packed with fast-paced action. Division winners bag a trophy, and teams shuffle between divisions based on performance – promotion for the top two, relegation for the bottom two. There's hardly a dull moment, with new mini-seasons kicking off straight away.
