Powell River Gymnastics Society is a well-established gymnastics centre located in Powell River, British Columbia. Offering a wide range of programs in recreational and competitive gymnastics, trampolines, and parkour, the centre caters to individuals of all ages and skill levels. Founded in 1988 as a private gymnastics club, Powell River Gymnastics Society became a not-for-profit organization in 1999 under the ownership of a group of dedicated parents. Over the years, the centre has had various locations in Powell River before settling in the old Max Cameron gymnasium in 2005. Boasting a spacious play area of 14,000 square feet, complete with an in-ground trampoline and a foam cube filled pit, the facility provides a safe and engaging space for gymnastics, parkour, and aerial silks programs for both boys and girls.
With the aim of enriching the lives of individuals in the community through sport, Powell River Gymnastics Society's mission is to assist all athletes in reaching their fullest potential. By providing high-quality programming in a positive, safe, and enjoyable environment, the centre supports young athletes in their physical, mental, and social development through various sports programs. The commitment of Powell River Gymnastics Society to providing a safe and inclusive space for athletes is further demonstrated by their partnership with the Canadian Sport Helpline to address harassment, abuse, and discrimination in sports.
Throughout its years in operation, Powell River Gymnastics Society has received financial assistance from various organizations, including The Province of British Columbia, The City of Powell River, Powell River Community Forest, KidSport Canada, Canadian Tire JumpStart, and Athletics 4 Kids. These contributions have played a significant role in making gymnastics and parkour accessible to individuals of all backgrounds and abilities. As the centre celebrates its 25th year in business as a non-profit, Powell River Gymnastics Society looks forward to continuing its mission of supporting athletes in reaching their full potential and enriching lives through sport.
