Poulson Training is a personal training service located in Carshalton, New Zealand, founded by Vikki Poulson. Vikki specialises in supporting individuals suffering from pain or injury, but who are motivated to safely get their health and fitness back on track. She has a passion for helping people rehabilitate their injuries and reach their personal goals.
Vikki takes the time to listen to each individual's needs in order to understand how best to rehabilitate their injuries. She provides education on a wide range of exercise options and modifications that suit their unique body. With gradual but impactful progressions over time, she helps her clients reach their personal goals. Routine and structure are important aspects of her training, and she aims to help her clients find joy in moving their bodies again while improving their overall confidence.
When describing herself, Vikki mentions that she loves being outdoors and enjoys activities such as walking, hiking, kayaking, and swimming. On weekends, she and her husband travel around the country in their self-converted camper van named Vinnie. She has a love for animals and is always happy to steal a cuddle from a pet. Spending time with family and friends, eating, playing games, and watching movies are some of her favourite pastimes.
Vikki jokingly mentions her annoying habits, such as confidently singing the wrong words to songs and always falling asleep early, even on special occasions.
Vikki's approach to personal training is influenced by her own fitness journey. Growing up, she stayed fit by dancing, cycling with her family, and participating in water sports during holidays in Dorset. While studying for a Maths degree at Southampton University, she took her dancing to the next level and competed nationally in Ballroom and Latin. She continued to stay active by attending Zumba and step classes at the university sports centre and cycling to her lectures.
After university, Vikki moved to central London and worked as a trainee accountant, which required frequent travel and living out of hotel rooms. During this time, she started doing bodyweight workouts in her hotel room to stay fit despite limited access to equipment and space. This experience inspired her to pursue a career as a personal trainer.
Vikki has furthered her education by completing various qualifications, including Exercise (GP) Referral, PadWork, Kettlebells, Circuits Instructor and Outdoor Exercise, Spin Instructor, Zumba Instructor, Sports Conditioning, Pre and Post Natal training, Mental Health Awareness for Sport and Physical Health (MIND), and First Aid at Work. She has worked with individuals with a wide range of conditions, including double knee replacement, hip replacement, arm amputation, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, rotator cuff injury, restricted shoulder mobility, sciatica, and joint pain.
Poulson Training is dedicated to helping individuals overcome pain and injury while providing a supportive and motivating environment. With Vikki's expertise and passion for helping others, clients can trust that they are in good hands on their fitness journey.
