Welcome to Port Vincent Aquatic Centre, a Department for Education aquatic centre located at Port Vincent, halfway down Yorke Peninsula, 200 kilometres from Adelaide. As a division of the water safety team, our primary aim is to provide a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and responsive specialist service to schools, helping students develop a range of lifetime knowledge, skills, and understanding about water safety, survival in the water, rescue of others, mobility in and around the water, and environmental issues that impact our oceans.
At Port Vincent Aquatic Centre, we conduct lessons in the safe and picturesque Port Vincent bay. However, we also offer a variety of activities at other locations around Yorke Peninsula. Our session times are as follows: 9:30am 11:00am, morning break (15 minutes), 11:15am 12:45pm, lunch (45 minutes), 1:30pm 3:00pm, afternoon break (15 minutes), and 3:15pm 4:45pm.
Some of the programmes we offer at Port Vincent include sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, kneeboarding, snorkelling, and small boat handling. We also have programmes at Berry Bay and other sites that involve surfing, bodyboarding, fishing, surf education, and kayaking trips.
The instructors at Port Vincent Aquatic Centre are highly qualified and hold certifications such as dcsi and Catholic Education working with children screening, applied first aid, annual surf rescue and CPR updates, asthma first aid, Epipen training, and more. They are experienced in various water activities, including dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kneeboarding, ocean snorkelling, and flatwater canoeing. Additionally, they are knowledgeable in powerboat handling and hold relevant licences or certifications.
