The Christies Beach Surf Life Saving Club, a popular Nippers club in Adelaide, is excited to host the upcoming Pool Rescue Competition. This State Title event, suitable for both male and female competitors aged U12 and above, promises to be a thrilling winter competition held in a swimming pool.
The Pool Rescue Competition showcases a range of exhilarating events that are sure to captivate participants and spectators alike. One such event is Line Throw, where competitors must skilfully throw an unweighted line to a teammate in the pool and swiftly pull them back 12 meters to the poolside within a designated time frame.
Another event, the 50 Meter Manikin, tests competitors' swimming abilities and precision. Participants will swim freestyle for 25 meters and then dive to recover a submerged manikin, carrying it to the finish edge of the pool.
In the highly anticipated 100 Meter Manikin Carry event, competitors will showcase their swim skills wearing swim fins. They will swim 50 meters freestyle to retrieve a submerged manikin located at the 50-meter mark. Once retrieved, the manikin must be carried back to the pool edge to complete the event.
Our club also offers exciting team events, such as the 4×50 Meter Medley Relay. In this event, teams of four will demonstrate their swimming prowess by completing a series of challenging tasks. Each team member will swim 50 meters freestyle without fins, followed by 50 meters freestyle with fins, then swim another 50 meters freestyle while towing a rescue tube without fins. Finally, they will conclude the relay by swimming 50 meters freestyle with fins while towing a fellow team member to the finish edge of the pool.
The 4×25 Meter Manikin Relay is another team-based event that requires four competitors to form a relay. Each participant will swim 25 meters while carrying a manikin, adding an exciting twist to the traditional relay format.
For those seeking an ultimate endurance test, the 200 Meter Super Lifesaver event is a must-try. Competitors will begin by swimming 75 meters freestyle to recover a submerged manikin. They will then continue to carry the manikin to the turning edge. After releasing the manikin, participants will put on swim fins and tow a rescue tube for 50 meters. At the pool turning edge, they will place the rescue tube around a floating manikin and tow it to the finish end of the pool.
Aside from these heart-pounding events, there are several other thrilling challenges awaiting participants, including the 100 Meter Rescue Medley, the 200 Meter Obstacle Swim, the 100 Meter Obstacle Relay, the 4×50 Meter Obstacle team event, the 100 Meter Manikin Tow, and the 100 Meter Manikin Carry.
