Pony Camps at Kates Riding Centre offer an immersive and exciting experience for horse enthusiasts in Kerikeri. This five-day event, held at our scenic farm, allows participants to indulge in the joy of horse riding while honing their skills and building confidence.
Scheduled for 25-29 September and 2-6 October, these camps promise a memorable time filled with two daily rides. Whether you prefer our all-weather sand arena, the indoor square pen, or exploring the beautiful trekking routes over our farm, there's something for everyone.
Participants have the option of bringing their own horse or utilising one of ours. Our dedicated team will match riders with suitable horses or ponies based on size and ability. Rest assured, we provide all necessary equipment (tack) if needed. During the camps, we focus not only on riding but also on understanding and caring for these magnificent animals.
Our experienced and friendly instructors specialise in various disciplines, including dressage, show jumping, show hunter, and cross country. For our younger riders, we prioritise confidence-building through engaging games and farm riding.
To ensure a comfortable stay, participants should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, towel, raincoat or jacket, riding helmet (preferably their own), boots or suitable riding boots, jodhpurs, sunscreen, casual evening wear, swimming attire and towel (in summer), one tray of baking or a bag of biscuits, one small bag of fruit, a named drink bottle, and a named melamine plate and cup.
All this excitement and learning comes at a cost of $550.00 per week, which covers everything from tuition and use of horse and tack to accommodation and food. Our young campers will be well-supervised by our dedicated “camp mum” in the cosy accommodation provided at Kate's house.
Grown-ups need not feel left out! We also welcome adults to partake in the camp and enjoy all the benefits. Adults can join in on the fun, receiving top-notch instruction and can use our horses and tack if needed. If you wish to bring your own horse, the first one comes at no additional charge, with any additional ponies incurring a fee of $50.00 per week.
