About
Polmont Bowling Club, located in Falkirk, Scotland, is a historic and thriving lawn bowls club with a rich history dating back to 1902. The club is known for its well-maintained green and welcoming atmosphere, making it a popular choice for bowlers of all ages and experience levels.
The club's history began on June 7th, 1902, when Mrs. Mitchell of Millfield opened the green by throwing the silver jack. From its humble beginnings playing on a green in Millfield policy grounds, the club eventually decided to acquire a new green for themselves. The current location of the green is between Miss Colston's school and the post office, with the established church hall now built on the site of the old bowling green.
Over the years, the club has faced its fair share of challenges, including the need to returf the green due to poor quality. However, the club's dedicated committee always strives to provide a high-quality playing surface for its members and visitors. After careful consideration, they engaged Mr. Leslie from Glasgow, known for his expertise in laying excellent greens, to carry out the returfing in order to ensure a more enjoyable bowling experience for everyone.
Polmont Bowling Club is not only dedicated to providing a well-maintained green but also hosts various events throughout the year to keep members engaged and involved. These events, ranging from friendly matches to trophy competitions, provide a great opportunity for bowlers to showcase their skills and socialise with fellow members.
The club can be easily reached at its address on Station Rd, Polmont, Falkirk FK2 0UD. For any inquiries, individuals can contact the club via email at polmontbowlingclub@outlook. Com or call 01324 716236. Club Secretary Jim Porter can also be reached at 07576 392999.
