One notable feature of the gallery is the Poets Walk Walking Track, which pays tribute to Swifts Creek resident John Butler, a renowned sculptor and poet. Inspired by the 2008 floods, Butler envisioned the Poet's Walk as a walking track adorned with six rock cairns, each displaying a verse from his poem titled “A River's Mark. ” Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the track, immersing themselves in the natural beauty of the area while enjoying the thoughtful verses that reflect the spirit of the landscape.
The Great Alpine Gallery showcases a diverse range of exhibitions throughout the year. Visitors might encounter themed exhibitions highlighting the work of local artists and community members, or even exhibitions dedicated to the artistry of a particular artist. Additionally, the gallery is open to hosting travelling exhibitions and participating in region-wide events, further expanding the artistic offerings available to visitors.

Located on 6881 Great Alpine Road in Swifts Creek, Victoria, the Great Alpine Gallery is open from Thursday to Monday between 10:30am and 3:30pm. However, as the gallery is run by volunteers, it is advisable to contact the gallery beforehand to confirm the opening hours, especially if visitors are travelling from a distance.
The Great Alpine Gallery is deeply respectful of the traditional custodians of the land, the Gunaikurnai and Jaitmathang people, and acknowledges their connexion to the land on which the gallery stands.
